Trade relations between Italy and the United Kingdom are moving towards a new phase after the recent signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on strategic dialogue for the promotion of exports and bilateral investments in the post-Brexit context.

Made in Italy is certainly appreciated in the agri-food sector and in fact our country is the second largest exporter after France. According to Export Planning data, as regards packaged foods and beverages, the forecasts for the three-year period 2023-2026 indicate a strong increase in Italian exports which should go from almost €3.7 billion (2022) to 4.7 billion (2026).

For the construction, furniture and design sector, the 2023-2025 forecasts indicate a growth in demand from the United Kingdom market of more than €8.1 billion. Italy has in fact consolidated its position as the leading supplier of designer furniture in the country; London in particular has become a brand, with its countless architectural studios, 75% of which work on international projects.

To illustrate new collaboration prospects and operational tools to be competitive on the English market, the Cuneo Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with Ceipiemonte scpa, is organizing the webinar “Business opportunities in the UK”, which will take place on April 2, starting at 10:00. The meeting includes an introductory scenario session, followed by sectoral insights on agri-food and furniture/construction/design.

Join us for a captivating presentation of Urbano e Umano - Ripensare le Città per un Equilibrio tra Progresso e Umanità by Fabrizio Capaccioli from our patron member Asacert.

The event will take place on April 10th at 18:00 at the Italian Chamber of Commerce office.

In this thought-provoking book, Capaccioli explores the complex relationship between urban development and human well-being, offering a fresh perspective on how cities can evolve in harmony with both progress and humanity.

The presentation will be moderated by Alessandro Allocca, journalist at La Repubblica, who will guide the conversation and engage with the author in an insightful discussion.

The prestigious Marchio Ospitalità Italiana Award ceremony will be held on the 26th of March at our member Giannino Mayfair, starting at 6:00 PM.

This exclusive, invitation-only event will celebrate the finest Italian restaurants in the UK that exemplify authentic Italian hospitality and culinary excellence. The award recognises establishments that adhere to the highest standards of quality, service, and the true essence of Italian dining.

By honouring these restaurants, the ceremony aims to promote the rich cultural heritage of Italy and highlight the outstanding contributions made by Italian restaurateurs in the UK. It is a night dedicated to celebrating passion, tradition, and the authentic Italian experience.

By invitation only

President Elect Roberto Costa will participate as GUEST OF HONOUR & SPEAKER at the Business Lunch with the British Chamber of Commerce in Milan.

Following his gastronomic journey, Roberto decided to open “the last restaurant of the chain” in London, in South Kensington. This choice, however, led him to separate from his partner Garrone in 2014, giving life to what is now the restaurant chain known as Macellaio RC. After opening several locations, in 2018 Mariella Radici joined the company. Together, they created RC Group, the large holding company that today includes six restaurants under the Macellaio RC brand and a delicatessen with a speakeasy restaurant called Casacosta. Currently, Roberto is the owner and operator of three Macellaio RC restaurants in London. He also serves as President Elect of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the United Kingdom (from June 2024) and President of RIAE (Coordination of Authentic Italian Restaurants Abroad).

The topic of his speech will be “A bridge between Italy and the United Kingdom: the vision of the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in London”.

Leighton House in Kensington is an award-wining museum showcasing an extraordinary collection of fine art and aesthetic interiors, created by celebrated Victorian artist Frederic, Lord Leighton (1830-1896).

Leighton and Landscape: Impressions from Nature presents a rare collection of oil sketches that Leighton painted en plein air during his travels to Europe, South West Asia and North Africa. Bringing together over 60 works from private and public collections, many of these delicate artworks will be returning to Leighton's studio-home for the first time in over 120 years.

The Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK is happy to collaborate with Leighton House because a highlight of the exhibition is the gallery dedicated to Leighton’s exquisite depictions of Capri, ‘the island of his heart’. Leighton first went to paint there in the 1850s and became a frequent visitor during his life. On display, his extraordinary 'Study of a Lemon Tree', remains one of the most celebrated drawings of the nineteenth century.

Leighton’s lifelong passion for Italy deeply inspired his work as an artist and the aesthetic vision for his studio-house, as well as helping to forge close friendships and personal connections.
